Banh mi? Yes please! …At Chicago French/Vietnamese Restaurant Ba Le.

For over 20 years, Ba Le Sandwich & Café has been serving the Uptown neighborhood of Chicago with some of the best Banh Mi this side of the Pacific Ocean.  With a new home next to the original location that doubled in space, and an updated look and feel, Ba Le was not only attracting lots of new customers, it was also garnering a lot of attention from local chefs and the media!  It was clear that Ba Le was in need of a new website that would provide more information to its current loyal customer base and would get the word out to those who haven’t had the chance to try this Chicago gem.

Ba Le is a delicate mix of contemporary and traditional, so when it came to designing www.BaLeSandwich.com, envisionit media made sure to mirror the contemporary new look and feel of the Ba Le brand while enticing visitors with savory menu items and a story rich in history.  We also equipped the new site with an easy-to-use online ordering system, which would allow Ba Le’s customers the choice to have their order all ready to go so they don’t have to wait in line with all the new customers discovering the restaurant each day. Don’t have time to make it all the way up to Uptown to try Ba Le’s tasty banh mi?  Not to worry.  Ba Le is in the process of opening another location in Chinatown!

Check out Ba Le’s new website and start ordering some banh mi today!  And make sure to order some bubble tea to wash down that tasty sandwich!

Take a byte out of it: Restaurants embrace technology

Written By: Deborah @ 8:39 am

Does your restaurant embrace the latest and greatest in technology? Your restaurant has a Facebook page, big deal. You have a Twitter stream where you tweet the latest addition to the menu, so what. Oh, and you offer customers deals on Foursquare, how innovative. Your restaurant is hopelessly 2009 if the wine list isn’t on an iPad. Observe:

Bone’s Restaurant
The Atlanta steakhouse, featured in The New York Times in September, decided their wine list was best served on the iPad, simplifying searches for some 1,350 bottles. The move increased wine sales by almost 11 percent, the owners say.

aria restaurant
aria’s iPad app was actually developed right here by envisionit in Chicago, putting the menu right at the diner’s fingertips. The app gives additional information about aria’s wines, dish preparation, and definitions—because sometimes it’s difficult to tell what that potentially delicious French-sounding ingredient might actually be. Diners can then make their friends jealous by posting favorite menu items to Facebook, Twitter, or share them by email.

4Food
Naturally, New York City must have the most tech-based and healthy-resembling, tasty-sounding burger place in the history of ever. Go online, choose your burger facets (bun, choice of eight different patties, a “slice,” cheese, condiments, add-ons), give it a name, tell the world. If someone orders the YouBurger, you get $0.25 credit. Ordering online requires creating an online account, which is a nice extra step of hassle, but, apparently, there are iPads to order in-house and lots and lots of technologically advanced power outlets.

Making ordering a burrito simple with an iPhone app (online ordering also requires signing up for an account).

A Fresh Take on Seafood, Prime Steak, & Stone Crab

Joes Website

Mmmmm….. I’m hungry from just writing that title, let alone from the last few months of being involved with the Joes.net refresh. That’s right, the classic Lettuce Entertain You restaurant has been given a bit of a virtual facelift. Joe’s is known not only for bringing the legendary Miami Beach stone crab to Chicago and Vegas or for their incredible seafood, steaks, desserts, and sides, but also for impeccable and approachable service, a lively atmosphere, and creative drink mixology. A few months back, Joe’s came to us concerned that their black and white website didn’t reflect any of these qualities. So it was time to pump just the right amount of color, energy, and Miami tradition into their site, combined with a level of class worthy of the culinary icon. All that, while also giving them a clean, easy-to-use content management system so they can keep current with their ever-changing menus, specials, and news. So without further ado, we present the new Joe’s  Seafood, Prime Steak, & Stone Crab.

And, psst! Attention Chicagoans: Joe’s has extended the 2010 Restaurant “Week” to a full month! So, you can still take advantage of their special multi-course lunch and dinner menus through the end of March. Check out the Restaurant Week menus here.
