Your business is still not on foursquare? Get in the game.

When you think of foursquare, the first thing that might come to mind is a game you played at recess when you were in elementary school. Well, times are changing, and the next time you hear someone talking about foursquare, they’re probably talking about the ever-growing location-based social media tool.

How it works for users:

Foursquare is a social media tool that allows people to post their location from GPS based smart phones, or via text from a regular cell phone. This is called “checking in,” and the more you check in, the more “rewards” you can earn. There are two different types of rewards: badges and mayor-ships.

We are very excited to announce that NTN Bearing Corporation of America has retained envisionit media as their interactive agency!

NTN Bearing Corporation of America manufactures and distributes throughout the U.S. a wide range of ball and roller bearings, serving the automotive, industrial and recreational markets. In addition to bearings of all sizes and types, NTN is also one of the largest producers of constant velocity joints for automotive front-wheel and four-wheel drive applications. So long clicks. It’s all about conversions.

For so long, online marketing success was measured by number of clicks.  That measurement of success, however, has shifted over the past 3 years from clicks to conversion rate optimization to increase conversions. A conversion occurs when a user visits your site and takes the desired action.  This action can include making a purchase, submitting a form, subscribing to a service, etc. The rate of these conversions is the percentage of your overall traffic that does what you want them to do, which can be significantly increased when optimized.

Conversion rate optimization is the key to achieving significant ROI in online marketing campaigns.  Who doesn’t like the sound of that?

preparing for the inevitable upturn

Last week at a networking event, the subject of the economy’s inevitable upturn was the morning’s hot topic. In the last year, we have seen companies slash costs, employees, services, marketing spend and more. This has left businesses white-knuckling it from here on out, hoping against hopes that everything will turn out ok. Good news is, most of my fellow networkers felt that business will get back to normal. The real debate was how will companies who have slashed to the bone (and then some) be able to compete once the market returns?

It’s a point well taken. Businesses that have cut deep have left themselves understaffed and with limited resources once the economy returns. And these same businesses will be scrambling and likely eclipsed by competitors who did not slash during the downturn. As we’ve stated before in this blog, it’s much easier to lead the pack than to catch up with it.

Last week a few of us made our way over to Windy City Social’s Marketing Challenge pre-party. Windy City Social hosts this challenge each year, where WCS members are invited to work in teams developing social media plans for participating clients. Clients then review the proposed plans and pick a winning team. Last year, our client Imerman Angels was a participating organization. Above is our favorite action photo of Jonny Imerman raving about the event’s results.

This year’s marketing challenge will be held on Wednesday, November 18th and feature clients such as the Special Olympics, General Motors and Southwest Airlines. envisionit will definitely be ‘representing’ this Wednesday! Go team! Hopefully you win the car that GM promised….
